At Donor Recovery Services, our coordinators and specialists play a crucial role in managing every phase of organ donation to ensure the best possible outcome for both organ donors and recipients.
Our Donor Family Advocates recognize the emotional challenge and needs of donor families and their loved ones. They provide guidance throughout the authorization process, a supportive presence during each phase, and relay post recovery outcomes.
Our Organ Transplant Coordinators collaborate with the host OPO and hospital staff to establish a clinical and logistical plan that includes medical management of the donor patient, organ placement, organ recovery planning, assistance in the operating room or surgery suite
during the recovery phase, and complete associated documentation per policy.
Our Preservation Coordinators during local and flyout recoveries provide pre-recovery education to participating staff, case set up, perfusion of organs, placement and removal of
kidneys on and off pump, packaging and labeling, serve as scrub tech, assist surgical teams throughout the organ recovery phase, and complete associated documentation per policy.
Senior coordinators, in each respective role, facilitate training and precepting of new hires at the direction of the host OPO.
Organ import coordinators work in conjunction with host OPO or directly with transplant hospitals to cover initial organ screening, case progression monitoring, and associated logistical planning for accepted organs.
Tissue Recovery Coordinators facilitate the surgical recovery of tissue recovery including skin, cardiac, vascular, musculoskeletal, and ocular for transplantation and research.
